Yet to be named, pt9

Before he could reach the building, he saw the thin stable boy from before. But that was not what struck him.
The stable boy was stealing his horse! It was prepared for riding, even its packs were filled with supplies.
‘Hey!’, he shouted, and charged at him.
The thief took no notice and tugged at the sleepy horse’s reins as it refused to obey and leave the comfy stable.
That gave the man enough time to get there. He grabbed the rein and pushed the stable boy away. It was not the strongest of pushes, but he staggered backwards and almost fell over. They looked at their hooded faces.
To the man’s surprise the thief’s face belonged to a woman.
A female tried to steal his horse!
‘Don’t even think about it’, he threatened her and jumped into the saddle. He was just about to force his horse into a gallop when he thought it mean to leave someone like her in a city that
is about to burn down – the light kept growing larger – and turn into a necropolis. In fact, he could see skeletons approaching from a few smaller streets, and the city guards were nowhere to be seen.
He turned to her, completely ignoring the fact that she was next to him, one hand hidden behind her tunic, presumably holding a dagger ready to stab, and reached out with his hand.
‘Jump on!’, he yelled. For a moment, she stood still, amazed. She quickly overcame the surprise and jumped onto the saddle behind him. During the leap, her hood fell back, showing long, pointy ears just like his.
A female elf tried to steal his horse!
